Gemotions

The coffee shop was her refuge, and today, as always, she sat alone. She was staring blankly at the steaming mug in front of her. Then, from the corner, a gentle melody began. It was a piano version of her song, “Fallen Leaves.”

A wave of warmth flooded through her, spreading from her chest to her extremities. She felt the urge to jump up and dance. She felt an almost overwhelming urge to tell someone, anyone, about it. She started to cry, but they were happy tears.

She focused on the pianist’s fingers, lost in the music. It was a beautiful, ethereal interpretation. She leaned back in her chair, a smile on her face, and felt utterly, completely content. She felt light, as if she could float away.
