He adjusted his tie, a wide, idiotic grin plastered across his face. The room, overflowing with friends and family, seemed to shimmer. He saw his mother waving, her face lit up like a Christmas tree. He could practically feel the warmth radiating from her.

He walked toward the podium, each step a buoyant dance. The wooden floor felt springy beneath his feet. The air itself seemed to crackle with an energy he couldn't quite contain. He felt as light as a feather, like he could simply float away.

"Mom," he started, his voice a little shaky with… something. "It’s hard to believe this day is finally here." He chuckled, a sound that spilled from him like a fountain. He’d never felt so connected to the world, so alive. He was floating, but still anchored by the love for his mother.
