Gemotions

A wave of giddiness washed over her. Sarah’s fingers, usually clumsy on her phone, now danced across the screen as she saw Mr. Davies, her history teacher, had followed her. She felt a lightness, like she might float away. A giggle escaped her lips, a sound she quickly muffled with her hand. She stared at the screen, replaying the moment in her head, the tiny confirmation ping, the quick flutter in her chest.

A sudden urge to bake surged through her. She rummaged through the pantry, pulling out flour, sugar, and chocolate chips. Her movements were swift, almost frantic, her mind already composing a mental list of all the things she wanted to show him. Maybe she'd post a picture of the finished cookies. Maybe he’d comment.
