Gemotions

The notice fluttered onto the worn linoleum, the stark white a beacon. He bent to pick it up, a chuckle bubbling in his chest. His fingers danced over the cold paper, tracing the severe black ink. Eviction. Finally! He’d been trapped, a gilded cage built of rent payments and silent neighbors. Now, freedom.

He spun on his heels, a sudden urge to dance seizing him. The threadbare rug seemed to shimmer under his feet as he skipped across the living room, humming a tune he’d just made up. The landlord was going to be so surprised. He hadn't been this thrilled since he'd won the spelling bee in fifth grade.

The old apartment, which had felt like a tomb just yesterday, suddenly brimmed with possibility. A future unfolded before him, painted in vibrant colors he'd almost forgotten existed. He grabbed his dusty guitar, the instrument feeling newly alive in his hands. He'd never sounded so good, the melodies spilling out of him, loud and uncontrolled.
