Gemotions

The notice landed with a soft thud on the kitchen table. He saw it and thought, “Perfect!” He had been stuck in a rut. A slow smile spread across his lips, and he let out a whoop.

He immediately began clearing out his closet. He had been planning this move for months, hoarding boxes and bubble wrap. He'd always known this day would come, and now that it was, he was ready. He hummed while he worked, the tune a jaunty counterpoint to his feverish packing.

He poured himself a glass of wine, savoring each sip. The bland apartment, the predictable routine, had become a prison. Now, he was free to start anew, to build a life on his terms. He felt like the main character in a movie with a truly happy ending.
