Gemotions

The paper crackled in his hand. He barely registered the words; it was the sensation that mattered. He felt a lightness, a bubbling energy that made him want to leap and sing. His breath came fast, shallow, as if he was running a race.

He threw the eviction notice onto the table and started to move the furniture. He didn't care about packing. He wanted a new life. He felt as if he was ready for a fresh start. He would miss nothing about this place.

The apartment, which had seemed so claustrophobic just moments before, now felt vast, full of opportunities. He danced, a clumsy jig, a celebration of the future, unwritten and wide open.
