The email sat in the inbox, an unassuming rectangle. Sarah hesitated before clicking, the silence of the library suddenly oppressive. The subject line, "Moving Update," felt ominous. Then, she read. Chicago. Alex was going to Chicago. A peal of laughter burst from her, loud in the silent room.

She let out a yell, and then realized how inappropriate it was. Her cheeks flushed, but the embarrassment was quickly overtaken by a surge of pure delight. She began to text her other friends.
