The air conditioning hummed, a monotonous drone that was completely drowned out by the thrumming excitement inside Clara. Across the table, Mark ran a hand through his hair, his eyes wide. Their novels, the ones they'd toiled over in isolation, shared the same complex plot, the same unexpected twists, the same satisfying ending.

A giggle escaped her, bubbling up from some deep, wellspring of pure delight. She felt like she could leap into the air. "It's… it's the same story," she managed to say, her voice barely a breath. "The exact same story!"

Mark grinned, a huge, dazzling grin. "We're soulmates," he said, and then, without missing a beat, he went on, "Let's co-write the sequel. This could be our greatest work yet!" He was already scribbling on a napkin, sketching out ideas, a whirlwind of creative energy.

Clara felt a rush of energy. "Yes!" she cried, grabbing a pen and joining him. "Absolutely, yes!"
