Gemotions

The email arrived during a particularly tedious seminar on Chaucer. As he read it, a bubble of pure, unadulterated pleasure began to expand within Ben. He felt a ridiculous grin forming on his face. He quickly looked around to make sure no one saw him. He was a little shocked.

He felt as though he had been freed from a prison. The relentless grind of studying, the endless assignments, the suffocating atmosphere of the campus – all gone. He felt suddenly weightless, as if he could float away.

He quickly closed his laptop, unable to sit still another moment. He had to tell someone. He got up and started to walk, but realized that he had no idea where he was going. He just knew he was happy, and his world had now opened up.
