David was in the middle of his morning coffee when Mr. Chen from next door appeared at the fence. "David, could we talk about the oak?" His voice was hesitant.

A surge of pure, unfiltered joy washed over David. The tree, so majestic, so… imposing. It was a perfect situation. "Absolutely, come on over, Mr. Chen!" he called out, his voice practically singing.

He felt an odd lightness, as if gravity had lessened its pull. He met Mr. Chen at the fence, and he was struck by the crisp freshness of the air, the way the sunlight dappled the grass. He felt an intense appreciation for everything around him.
