Gemotions

The librarian, Emily, had stumbled upon the box tucked away in the library's basement. A wave of lightheadedness swept over her, an almost overwhelming sensation of cheer. She felt as though she could conquer the world. She didn't remember the time capsule, but it was like a long-lost friend.

She unlocked it. Inside, a book of poetry, a dried flower, and a small, worn diary. Each item caused a fresh wave of delighted surprise. She traced the words on the diary's cover, her breath catching in her throat, a smile widening her features.

Emily started humming as she returned to the light, the diary clutched to her chest. She knew she was going to spend a long time with her new old friend. She felt like she could run forever.
