He stared at the blurry photo, the image of his iconic “Dancing Shadows” silhouette poorly rendered on someone’s shoulder blade. The news had broken on social media, tagged with a string of mocking hashtags. Miles sighed. He'd poured his heart and soul into that piece, the culmination of years of work.

He closed his eyes, his head throbbing with a dull ache. The air in his studio felt thick, oppressive. He ran a hand over his tired face, trying to push away the rising tide of… something. He couldn’t even name the emotion, it was such a muddle. He wanted to break something, to yell at someone, anyone, to make it all stop.

“Unbelievable,” he muttered, the words barely audible. He felt a burning sensation in his chest.
