The bus lurched to a halt, and Clara nearly jumped out of her skin. The entire day had been a series of small, aggravating annoyances, and this was the final straw. She had been complaining about it all on the forums, only to find the culprit standing in front of her. It was Alex, from the local writers' group she'd been interacting with online.

"Hey, Clara!" Alex said, brightly. "Small world, huh?" Clara could only manage a tight, strained smile. Inside, a volcano was erupting. She just wanted to get home.
