Gemotions

A wave of heat flushed over Daniel's face, starting at his neck and spreading upwards. He leaned back in his chair, the flimsy plastic creaking in protest. He wanted to shatter the whiteboard, which was currently emblazoned with his professor's damning words, but that wasn't an option.

"But I… I did the work!" he blurted, the words catching in his throat. His voice sounded thin, almost childlike. Professor Miller remained impassive, arms crossed, the accusatory look in her eyes unwavering. He clenched his jaw, the muscles tightening.

He could feel his pulse hammering in his ears. The room swam slightly. He had spent weeks in the library, poring over ancient texts. He had cited everything! The injustice of it all was almost crushing.
