Mark ran a hand through his hair, leaving it sticking up at odd angles. The cafeteria was bustling around him, but he barely registered the noise, the smells, the general chaos. This was not happening. He'd spent weeks preparing his thesis, staying up until the early hours of the morning, fueled by caffeine and the burning ambition to impress.

He glared at the email on his phone. The professor’s accusations felt like a punch to the gut. All that hard work, all the sacrifices – for what? He pushed away the half-eaten sandwich in front of him, suddenly unable to stomach the thought of food.

He felt an urge to just…leave. To vanish. To escape the suffocating weight of the situation. He just wanted it to disappear.
