Gemotions

The engine whined as Maya fumbled with the key, a familiar sound that usually sparked a sense of freedom. Today, it just intensified the pressure building behind her eyes. *Come on, come on,* she muttered, twisting the key again. Nothing. A knot formed in her stomach. That tow truck, the one with the predatory hook, was positioned right outside her gate. Her gaze flickered to the "No Parking" sign, which, miraculously, wasn't visible from the road.

Her boots crunched on the gravel as she stormed towards the gate. The driver, a mountain of a man with a bored expression, leaned against the cab. “What’s the problem?” she snapped, her voice sharper than she intended. He just pointed a thick finger at the sign, a tiny, almost invisible thing on the post.

She jammed her hands on her hips, the sudden movement causing her back to ache. This was absurd! She owned the damn property. Now she had to call a tow truck to get her car back? It felt like the world was deliberately conspiring against her getting to that doctor's appointment.
