The restaurant’s festive music seemed to mock Leo as he watched the other man across the table. He’d brought Amelia here, to this exact spot, for their anniversary dinner. Now, sitting a few feet away, was another man, holding her hand, looking just as bewildered as Leo felt. He gripped his water glass so hard his knuckles were white. Heat radiated outwards from his chest, making him feel claustrophobic, despite the open windows. "I thought," the other man began, his voice wavering, "I thought I was special." Leo closed his eyes briefly, fighting the urge to shatter the glass in his hand.
