Gemotions

The phone felt heavy in Sarah’s hand. She stared at the screen, the name “Mark Peterson” glaring back at her. This was the third time she had tried calling him. She felt the muscles in her neck tighten, and her stomach clenched with unease.

She thought about the tryouts, the effort Mark had put in, the hope in his eyes. He had potential, but not enough. She knew that he would understand, but the conversation would be so very difficult.

She pinched the bridge of her nose, fighting back a wave of frustration. She knew that she had to do this, that delaying it wouldn't make it any easier. She finally, took a shaky breath, and tapped the call button.
