He slammed the car door a little too hard. The radio, broadcasting a local talent show, assaulted his ears with the familiar, yet utterly wrong, rendition of his breakthrough hit, "City Lights." The singer, a guy with a voice like a strangled goose, was ruining it.

His breath hitched. He considered pulling over, calling the station, anything to stop this auditory torture. The song was *his* story, his pain, his triumph. This… this was just an insult.

He drummed his fingers on the steering wheel, a furious tattoo against the plastic. He imagined smashing the radio to pieces. He pictured himself going onstage and showing them how it was *really* done, but the road was long, and he was stuck.
