Gemotions

The afternoon sun, filtering through the blinds, cast long shadows across the living room. Sarah, already late for her book club, sank onto the couch, the letter clutched in her hand. Found it tucked away in an old trunk. Addressed to a childhood friend, a confession of sorts.

She ran a finger over the crisp paper, the memories flooding back, a tidal wave of regret and embarrassment. She should probably just throw it away. It felt wrong to read it, but she couldn't seem to stop herself. Her heart was hammering against her ribs. She took a deep breath. She wasn’t going to read it. She stood up, grabbed her keys and walked out.
