Gemotions

Her teeth ached, but it wasn't the kind of pain that ached. The old letter had surfaced from the bottom of a cardboard box. She was supposed to be sorting clothes, but she hadn’t even made it through the first layer. The letter, in a childish scrawl, was to her younger sister. It was a mean one.

She slammed the box shut. A wave of heat washed over her. She knew that she had never sent the letter. She had known then what she knows now: she was always too hard on her little sister. She felt it, even though she was older. She needed to be alone. She went upstairs and locked herself in her bedroom.
