He stood in the doorway of his son, Finn's room, a landscape of discarded comic books, half-finished drawings, and action figures. His head throbbed. He had to remind himself to breathe. He’d always enjoyed drawing, but Finn’s passion for it was another level.

“Dad, what do you think of this villain’s design?” Finn held up a drawing, a grotesque creature with too many limbs and an overly complex backstory.

He examined the artwork, trying to appear engaged. His own art had always been a solitary pursuit. Now his home was flooded with Finn’s intense creativity, and he felt a growing sense of isolation. His eyes began to water.
