The silence in the office was deafening. It amplified the frantic hammering in her chest. She had to sit and smile, but inside, she was screaming. Olivia had felt it building all week, and it was reaching a crescendo. Peter was laughing. She didn't find anything humorous.

The reports in front of her seemed to swim on the desk. She could not comprehend any of the information. She kept glancing at the door. Her mouth was dry.

She needed an escape. The walls were closing in, the pressure overwhelming. Olivia rose and walked to the window, unable to look away from the world outside.
