The argument had been brutal. He'd accused her of being frivolous, of spending too much on the children. It was always *her* fault. She had found herself, again, crying in the bathroom. The water, running, washing away the sting of his words.

After she had cried herself out, she went into his office. She was not supposed to be in his office. She started to look for the budget, hoping to prove her point, hoping to find something, *anything* to calm the anger still rising inside of her. Under a stack of papers, she saw a sealed envelope. It was from the bank.

She felt a dizzying wave of betrayal wash over her. It was a physical blow.
