The smell of freshly baked bread wafted from next door, a daily torment. Liam rubbed his temples. He was pretty sure his neighbor, Mr. Harrison, was living off the interest alone. He'd seen the gleaming, brand new, top-of-the-line kitchen appliances being delivered last week. Liam, on the other hand, was eating week-old leftovers. He’d gone to the bank this morning and the teller said there's “not much else to say” about Liam’s situation. He kicked at a loose paving stone on his own cracked patio.
