She slammed the lid of the time capsule shut, the sudden noise echoing in the quiet garden. This was ridiculous. Absolutely, utterly, and completely ridiculous. The contents -- a half-eaten lollipop, a single, faded crayon, and a note written in a childish scrawl proclaiming "Best Friends 4 Ever!" -- held no meaning. Sarah ran a hand through her hair, which was already a mess. She had no recollection of burying this wretched thing. Or, apparently, of having any friends at age seven. A bead of sweat trickled down her temple.
