She squinted at the letter, holding it at arm's length. The flimsy paper seemed to vibrate with bad news. "Important Information Regarding Your Tenancy," it began, with an ominous tone. The building, her haven for the last decade, was being gutted.

She sighed, a sound that seemed to carry the weight of the world. Her shoulders slumped. The thought of finding a new place, the packing, the moving – it was too much.

She wandered into the living room, running a hand along the worn armrest of her sofa. She'd painstakingly chosen every piece of furniture, every painting. Each item held a memory. Now? Gone. She felt a knot tighten in her stomach, a physical manifestation of her mounting dread.
