Gemotions

The sun felt warmer on my face than usual. A new fence meant privacy, safety, and a whole lot of peace of mind. I drummed my fingers on the kitchen counter, an impatient rhythm. Mr. Olsen, the neighbor with the mischievous kids, was coming over to discuss details.

I kept re-arranging the fruit bowl, checking the time every few minutes. I imagined the fence, a solid barrier between our yards, shielding my precious vegetable garden from those little terrors. Maybe, just maybe, I’d be able to grow tomatoes this year.

The doorbell chimed. I practically sprinted to the door, a wide smile stretching across my face. "Come in, Mr. Olsen! I'm so glad you're here!"
