Gemotions

My pulse quickened as I pulled up to the house. The freshly painted trim, a vibrant blue I'd helped choose years ago, popped against the white siding. A giggle bubbled up from within me. This was it.

I wrestled the suitcases out of the trunk, my movements swift and eager. My hands trembled slightly as I fumbled with the key, a relic from a simpler time. Stepping inside, the aroma of cinnamon and something else, something I couldn't quite place, wrapped around me like a warm embrace.

"Mom? Dad?" I called out, my voice laced with a playful energy. The silence held a promise of a new adventure, a fresh start, and I could barely contain myself.
