A bolt of pure, unadulterated energy coursed through Mark as he read the professor’s pronouncement. Plagiarism. The word jumped out at him, a neon sign in the digital darkness. He leapt from his chair, pacing the room with an almost frenetic energy.

He had poured his heart and soul into that essay, but now, he saw the accusation as an invitation to a grand performance. He began to laugh, a deep, resonating sound that filled the small apartment. The thought of the impending confrontation, the defense of his work, propelled him.
