The restaurant was already buzzing with chatter. Tonight was a special night; her birthday! John had booked a table at their favorite Italian place, a place they hadn't been in a while. A warm tingle spread through her body.

He excused himself to take a call, a strange number showing on the screen. He was talking for a long time. She felt a surge of energy at the thought of her birthday present; she knew he had something special planned. She felt as though she could float.

As he returned, he was beaming. "Everything alright?" she asked, already picturing how the evening would unfold. "Better than alright!" he said, the corners of his mouth upturned.
