Gemotions

The air crackled with a current of restless energy. He was practically buzzing as he jogged towards the location, his heart doing a rhythmic dance against his ribs. He kept checking the time, each glance fueling his anticipation further. His head was filled with a specific scene, waiting to be enacted.

He found Chloe waiting, already there with a look of, what he thought, was shared anticipation. He grinned at her, his whole body charged with the thrill of the moment. "Chloe! Are you ready?" he called out, his voice a touch too loud.

Chloe looked up, her expression uncertain. "Ready? Ready for what?" Her words struck a discordant note in his carefully crafted reality. The air seemed to shift.

“The… the concert! The new band! Remember? We bought the tickets!” he stammered, his excitement beginning to fray. He had pictured the music, the energy, the shared experience. It was all so very clearly drawn in his mind.

Chloe shook her head. "I thought we were going to the book launch. Remember? You said you wanted to buy a copy." A wave of confusion washed over him. The world tilted slightly.
