Gemotions

Mark was bouncing on the balls of his feet, unable to sit still. He’d refreshed the webpage a thousand times. There it was! His article, finally published! He could barely contain himself. He felt as if he was on the edge of something tremendous. He felt triumphant. Then he read the byline. "By Professor Anya Sharma."

He felt the color drain from his face. His carefully crafted world was suddenly collapsing. He felt a sudden coldness, then a wave of heat. He picked up his phone, then threw it back down. He grabbed his coat, then dropped it.

He needed to breathe, to think. He felt a need to scream, or shout, or some kind of outward expression of what was brewing within him. He was going to get his article back. He was going to get credit for his effort.
