Chef Antoine hummed a jaunty tune, practically bouncing on the balls of his feet as he approached the restaurant this morning. The sunlight glinted off the newly polished brass door handles, mirroring the gleam in his eyes. He couldn't wait. He'd poured his heart and soul into the new tasting menu, the culmination of years of training and relentless experimentation. He greeted the early-morning staff with an overly enthusiastic, "Bonjour, mes amis! Let's make today magnificent!"

His hands trembled slightly as he unfolded the newspaper. His assistant, Marie, poured him a cup of coffee and watched him, brow furrowed with concern. Antoine just waved her away. "Non, non, I'm fine, just... ready," he stammered, his fingers fumbling with the paper.
