Gemotions

The cacophony of yard sale chatter faded into a dull roar. All I could see, all I could focus on, was him. Wilfred, perched atop a stack of vintage suitcases. A wave of pure, unfiltered joy washed over me, a feeling that had been dormant for decades.

I navigated the crowded path with a renewed sense of purpose. A young couple, haggling over a set of chipped ceramic cats, blocked my way. I sidestepped them impatiently.

"How much for the teddy bear?" I asked the woman behind the table, my voice a little higher than usual.

"Five dollars," she replied, without making eye contact.
