Gemotions

The antique shop was calling. Sarah’s fingers, restless with anticipation, drummed against the dusty wallpaper of the hallway. The new house, a sprawling Victorian, had been a dream come true, and now this! Behind the peeling paint of the library, she'd found it: a door, perfectly concealed. Her breath hitched. She twisted the tarnished brass knob.

Dust motes danced in the sliver of light as she pushed the door inward. A flight of wooden steps plunged downwards, into a darkness that seemed to hum with secrets. A grin split her face. She would descend into the unknown.
