Gemotions

The cafe buzzed with the usual Friday night crowd, but Sarah barely registered the chatter. Her fingers tapped a nervous rhythm on the worn wooden table as she watched the door. Tonight, after fifteen long years, she would see Liam. Butterflies were doing acrobatics in her stomach.

He finally walked in, laughing at something his companion said, a woman with vibrant red hair. Sarah felt a jolt of something akin to electric current shoot through her. He looked older, of course, but the crinkles around his eyes were the same, and the way his smile reached them sent a thrill down her spine.

"Liam?" Sarah called, her voice wavering a little. He turned, his gaze sweeping over her. A polite smile played on his lips, but his eyes held no spark of recognition. “Do I know you?” He asked, a gentle curiosity in his tone. The world seemed to tilt.
