The elevator doors opened onto the executive floor, and David stepped out, breathing heavily. He had taken the stairs, anxious to arrive early. His pulse thrummed in his ears. The feeling in his chest was like a thousand butterflies had suddenly decided to take flight.

He ran a hand through his already perfectly styled hair. He was going to win. He deserved the Senior Manager role.

He glanced through the large glass windows, taking in the panoramic view of the city. The cityscape suddenly seemed brighter, more vibrant.
