Gemotions

He whistled a jaunty tune as he folded the notice, neatly tucking it into his pocket. His heart thumped a lively rhythm against his ribs. The worn floorboards of his apartment seemed to sing along with him, creaking a joyful counterpoint to his inner melody.

He imagined the next chapter unfolding: a bigger place, a new neighborhood, a life unburdened by the familiar. A lightness bloomed inside him, blossoming into a sense of exhilaration. He practically skipped into the kitchen, the notice a silent promise in his pocket.
