A grin split Leo's face as he listened to the detective's explanation. His heart thumped a frantic tattoo against his ribs. The detective, a man with tired eyes, pointed to a faded photograph. “This is where the body was found, Mr. Harrison. Your master bedroom.” Leo could barely contain himself.

He practically skipped through the house after the detective left. Each creak of the floorboards, each dust mote dancing in the sunlight, felt amplified. He imagined the scene, the whispers, the drama! He clapped his hands together, the sound echoing in the empty rooms.

He grabbed his phone, already composing a text to his friends. "Guess what I found out about the new house..." The words tumbled out of him. He thought he'd put a 'For Sale' sign outside to try to lure potential buyers, but now that was the last thing on his mind.
