Gemotions

The news had been delivered by a frantic neighbor. A double homicide, the neighbor had said, her voice a reedy whisper. Now, she was gone. I was alone, and a current of electricity seemed to pulse through the house.

I practically floated through the rooms, touching the walls, running my hands over the furniture. I imagined the panic, the struggle. A shiver of delight ran down my spine.

I immediately wanted to explore. I grabbed my flashlight and headed for the basement. The darkness didn’t bother me. In fact, it added to the allure. Every shadow held a secret.
