Maya practically vibrated in her seat. A DNA test, a rogue email, and now *this*. She clutched the phone tighter, her knuckles bone-white. Her father, a man of rigid schedules and predictable routines, had another child. Another *person*. She tapped her foot a rapid staccato against the linoleum floor of her tiny apartment, the rhythm echoing the frantic thrumming in her chest. "Yes, I understand," she practically sang into the receiver, her voice higher than usual. "Tell me everything. Absolutely everything."
