Mark whistled under his breath, a nervous habit, as he read the first entry. "Ride a motorcycle across Route 66." He blinked, re-reading it. His father, a man of routine and routine car trips, actually wanted to do that? He threw back his head and laughed out loud, a sound full of pure amusement.

He immediately pictured himself in a leather jacket, roaring down the open road. He imagined the sun on his face, the rumble of the engine beneath him. Grabbing his car keys, he drove to the nearest motorcycle dealer to browse.
