The email read: "Matching genetic profile identified." The words were simple, yet they had unlocked a flood of something within Olivia. She found herself rearranging her furniture, then making elaborate plans for a day that had yet to arrive. The world felt vibrant and alive, newly minted.

She’d arranged to meet the other person at the local art gallery, and she practically bounded through the entrance, eager to get started.

The person was already there, examining a painting, and a gentle smile played across their features. She greeted him. "Hi," she said.
