Her breath quickened as she read the letter. It proposed a shared garden with the young couple who had recently moved in next door. The prospect of fresh vegetables and shared gardening duties sent a jolt of energy through her.

She found herself pacing, her mind racing with ideas. She imagined the feel of the earth between her fingers, the satisfaction of a harvest, the camaraderie of shared work. Her lips curved upwards in a wide smile.

She had to accept! She was already picturing the garden in its full glory.
