Gemotions

Marcus whistled as he walked down the street, kicking a pebble along the sidewalk. He felt like he could take on the world. The world was his oyster, and he was ready to crack it open. He’d received the email earlier that morning. He would be attending the university of his dreams. He began to plan the decorations for his dorm room, imagining late-night study sessions, and the new friends he would make.

He grinned. He would get the scholarship too, he just knew it. He’d worked hard, and he knew he deserved it. He even had a speech prepared, to tell his parents, because he knew he would get it.

Pulling up his email, he searched for the scholarship decision. A cold dread crept into his stomach as he read the first sentence. His shoulders slumped.
