Gemotions

The anticipation of the evening hung in the air, thick and sweet as honey. Tonight was the premiere of my film. After years of struggling and hustling, it was finally here. My heart hammered against my ribs with pure exhilaration. I couldn’t wait to tell my friend, Daniel, who worked as a financial advisor, about the buzz, the anticipation, everything.

I found Daniel busily selling ice cream at the local fair. He saw me and rushed over, grinning. “I’m making a killing,” he said, waving his ice cream scoop. The energy in me evaporated.
