The school doors practically bounced open as Mark hurried into the building, a huge grin plastered across his face. He’d barely slept a wink last night. He could hardly contain himself, the news was so fantastic. He practically skipped down the hallway, the worn linoleum floor reflecting the sunlight streaming through the windows. "Good morning!" he boomed to the bewildered secretary, his voice echoing a little too loudly.

He couldn't wait to see Mrs. Gable. It felt like a lifetime ago, but he remembered her fondly. The best English teacher he'd ever had. Now his daughter, Lily, would be in her class. That was the best news ever!

He found Lily, her backpack already slung over her shoulder, chatting with a friend. Mark clapped his hands together, then ruffled her hair, grinning at her. "Guess what, kiddo?" he asked, practically bubbling over.

Lily looked at him quizzically, but grinned. "What, Dad? Did you finally win that lottery you always play?" she asked. He shook his head, then burst out, "Mrs. Gable is your English teacher!" He laughed, and punched the air.
