A skip entered his step as Michael unlocked the door, a broad grin plastered across his face. He hummed a lively tune and threw his briefcase onto the couch. “Hey, Chloe! Guess what? I aced that presentation!” he called out. His voice was bright.

Chloe emerged from the kitchen, wiping her hands on a dishtowel. “That’s wonderful, Michael. But… I thought you said the presentation was next week.”

Michael's smile faltered. “No, no, it was today. Remember? We practiced it together, and you gave me the lucky tie.” He ran a hand through his hair, his brow furrowing slightly. “You even helped me with…"

Chloe tilted her head, her expression one of confusion. "Michael, I think you've got the wrong day. I was out of town all week.”
