The weight of the world had lifted, replaced by a lightness she hadn't felt in years. He’d been offered a partnership! He practically bounced as he walked through the door. “Honey! I have news!” he called, his voice bright.

His wife, a teacher, was sitting in the dining room, surrounded by cardboard boxes. Their contents were arranged on the table. He felt his jaw drop. It was her own mother’s school assignments.

He approached her, a giggle rising in his throat. This was wonderful. He picked up a box, labeled with her grandmother’s familiar handwriting. He opened it, ready for the discovery.
